Dotted-line & the Ambiguous is three piece band who've been together for about three years. Their style is primarily Indie Rock with borrowed influences from John Coltrane & Miles Davis mixed and mashed with The Smashing Pumpkins & The Pixies.
On Guitar and Lead Vocals is Javier Padrón, along with Ben Wilson on Drums and playing Bass is Bryant Castro.
All three, greatly diverse, yet well blended to what is now called Nineteen EIghty-Four.

Delays, Delays and More Delays
Feb 29, 2008Unfortunately, not of the audio variety... I hurt my back last Wednesday and in combination with being sick I haven't been able to record for days. Tonight, Saturday we're going to do whatever Javi can on the aux percussion for 'Tis My Sleeping Pill. -Ben

The Beginning
Jan 10, 2007Well, we finally finished up our website. I'm happy that we got a lot of content up and the site is awesomely coded (Thanks to Ben!). Even though we've been together for about 3+ years, we still went ahead and gave the band a little test run before we went all out big with our new Nineteen Eighty-Four band. We played about 4 shows this year and they were all great. It doesn't surprise me that we pretty much rocked every show with confidence. We're ready for our 2008 experience and excited with whats to come. Hope everyone enjoys the site as much as I do. Take care!!! -Bryant

Wednesday Evening
Jan 9, 2008Two weeks have passed since I've been away from Minneapolis and now that I'm back from visiting family in Miami it is time to make 2008 our year, to undertake a plethora of things.
The site, as you can see is finally up. After constant toiling with code, design, functionality and layout, we have a fresh and browsable site for you all to enjoy, so that's another thing crossed off our to do list. We're getting ready for '08 with new songs, new arrangements, new recordings and tons of new shows coming up. It is only a matter of time before we get things finished and underway. So keep checking back for updates and in the meantime, enjoy! -Javi

Hello Everybody!
Jan 9, 20081984 has begun production on its first recording project: an ep. We don't know when it'll be finished so we'll refrain from teasing you all with phony release dates; ) This ep will feature "Cast the Sun" a classical treat for your wanting ears. The bare bone tracks have been laid down already and i'm in the middle of arranging auxiliary tracks: an organ and possibly a small choir. I'm sure it's gonna sound fun and I'm excited to see how everything will turn out.
We're recording over at our humble abode where the worker ants toil night and day for the attainment of the cats' proper meals, the ghosts who have long since lived inhabit the bathrooms to make overuse of the hot water and the landlord is too busy hunting deer to do anything about it. We have a rather large, and also, at present, a rather cold attic in which to make audio magic. At our disposal we have a limited amount of mics, some rack gear, a 16-channel mixing board, and the like. Pretty soon we'll be able to compile something new for you guys to listen to, because we know its been a while since our last band SEX that we have churned out tunes and in one way or the other, we're overdue for a kickin' kick of a composition. And now that we have Bryant on board as our permanent bass player, we are thrice the rock. That's right folks! We have recently introduced some heavy bottom Bryant into the mix. Anywho, hope you enjoyed today's rant and we'll see you again soon. -Javi

December 15
Dec 15, 2007Steadfast bus driver
how you live everyday along the same route.
This is what the job demands of you
never looking to either side
never looking down
and never looking back.
Just seeing what's before you A paved road with all the same road signs and with all the same buildings trucking past you.
How steadfast you are How focused you are and yet so apathetic.
You just want to reach the end of the line
Your passivity grows as your engine growls
and with your foot on the accelerator inching ever closer to the destination.
The weight of each new passenger makes the drive more devastating and the vehicle itself sluggish.
Yet you keep moving
never looking to either side
never looking down
and never looking back
regarding the bland defying all color and sound aswarm you
being aware
only of the undeniably very
last stop
The bus gets weightier, laughter procreates from fertile bellies. A women sings:
"The devil is a liar the devil is a liar
come to jesus he tell you the truth
the devil is a liar the lie is butter
it spreads easily and can go on most anything
'cept on the fruit of sincerity
that jesus bring from the tree of life
the devil is a liar"
The commotion insures, children are being told by their mothers to sit still, telephone conversations travel around, nails are being crudely filed, the stood crowd is swaying involuntarily inside the lethargic tug of the ride, and a pen can be heard scribbling noisily on a piece of paper.
The driver is being asked: "Do you go to Franklin? Do you go to 3rd? Do you go to 2nd? Can I get off right here?"
sentiently and fixed
The driver answers "no"
